Rainy conditions did not stop people across Ottawa County from stopping out to the Farm to Food Expo at The Shops at Westshore.

The event on Saturday, June 9, was meant to encourage dialogue between local farmers and the public and to provide farmers an opportunity to answer questions about their home-grown products.

“More and more people want to know more about where their food comes from,” said Becky Huttenga, who is on the marketing committee for the event. “They put the food in their bodies and they nourish their children with it. They want to know about their food and if farmers and producers aren’t out there telling their story, people are going to fill in the gaps in other ways. These are our neighbors who are making the food that we put on our tables … we want the real story of agriculture to be out there and accessible.”
